What is EFT ?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a form of Energy Psychology
This is a term given to anything that uses both psychology and energy medicine in the same treatment. Working just with the mind is like working with only one piece of the jigsaw instead of the whole puzzle, because we are not just a mind.

Working only with the body is also like working with one piece of the jigsaw, because we are not just a body. When we work with everything together we get results that seem stunning to traditional psychologists, counsellors or doctors. It is the ‘energy’ part of that term Energy Psychology that has all the power.

We work with the body’s electrical energy system and literally tap into it. Tapping Therapy (EFT) is like an emotional version of acupuncture, but without the needles. It involves tapping with the fingers on various energy/meridian points on the head, upper body and hands, whilst bringing to mind the problem (the psychology part). It seems weird but it really works. In fact, it works so well that many doctors, psychologists and hospitals are now using it.

Often traditional therapy can take months or years, but by adding the energy component to treatment it is shortened to hours or minutes!

A Brief History

Over 6,000 years ago, traditional Chinese medicine using acupuncture and acupressure in Japan developed under the premise that ‘disease is caused by disruptions in the body’s energy flow’.
Energy meridians were identified and related to various organs in the body.  Certain emotions can effect certain organs.

As recently as the 1980s, Dr Roger Callahan developed his Thought Field Therapy, which is a combination of Dr George Goodheart’s Muscle Testing, and Dr John Diamond’s Behavioural Kinesiology (affirmations on acupressure points).  A unique tapping routine was formulated through a complex process of muscle testing for each emotional issue.

This was further refined in 1990 by engineer Gary Craig, who condensed these Thought Field Therapy tapping routines into one routine for all and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping) evolved.
By using Gary’s technique, the client is able to cover the entire body with one sequence and can also easily learn to treat themselves.

What some doctors say about EFT :

“At our clinic we are presently using EFT to help patients overcome negative emotions that undermine health, and to eliminate many forms of pain…We also use it to reduce food cravings that can sabotage healthy eating programs, and to implement positive life goals to support optimal health and well-being…EFT is now a major component of our treatment program.” Dr. Joseph Mercola, DO

“EFT is a simple, powerful process that can profoundly influence gene activity, health and behaviour.” Bruce Lipton, PhD

“In my own case, I got tired of giving out medications which would just treat the symptoms and didn’t really address what I thought was the underlying problem. I see EFT cured things that were incurable all the time. It’s possible to clear emotional issues at a deep enough level that physical healing results. People on the outside look at some of the things we do as miracles. I’m not really a miracle worker at all, it’s just that the body will tend to heal itself if it’s energy is allowed to flow. The biggest thing that blocks the flow of energy is how emotional issues and past traumas are held in the body. EFT is the best thing I found hands down.” Dr. Eric Robins, M.D
